PUBLISHES CHILDREN’S CHINESE ENGLISH BILINGUAL BOOKS

Picture Book, The Frog in the Well, to be Published June 2008

Philadelphia, PA, May 3, 2008 – CE Bilingual Books announced its first book, The Frog in the Well.

Irene Y. Tsai (author) and Pattie Caprio (illustrator) combine their talents to retell a story based on a Chinese idiom, THE FROG IN THE WELL. This old Chinese fable compares a frog who lives in a deep well to a sea turtle living in a vast Eastern ocean. The frog lives happily in the well. He thinks the well is the world until a sea turtle tells him about the vast ocean. Children will learn to read in English and Chinese simultaneously. This story is written in English, Traditional (with Zhu Yin Fu Hao) and Simplified Chinese (with Pinyin). By learning two languages, your children will be more prepared for the global market place. THE FROG IN THE WELL is translated from English to Chinese by Joyce Lin.

Irene Tsai, Ph.D. was born in Taiwan and grew up in Queens, New York. She believes books can change lives. Indeed, books have motivated, challenged, and reassured her throughout her life and into her career as an engineer. Growing up in Flushing, New York, Irene spent many hours reading books in Chinese and English in the Flushing Public Library and Chinese Culture Center. She credits her ability to communicate in both Chinese and English to her mother, who loved reading Chinese literature and watching traditional Chinese movies. Irene has published articles in the World Book Encyclopedia as well as scientific journals. She is a member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators. You can find out more about Irene at http://www.cebilingualbooks.com.

The Frog in the Well is illustrated and designed exclusively by talented artist, Pattie Caprio, who is a Visual Communicator for over 35 years.  She received recognition for her artwork at the early age of seven.   Ms. Caprio was inducted into the National Honor Society, Phi Theta Kappa, in 1996, and in recognition of outstanding contribution to the Preservation and Appreciation of the Heritage of the Upper Delaware Valley, she received an award for illustrating and co-published “Falling Feathers” the Pocono Indian Presence.

CE Bilingual Books is an independent publisher.  Our mission is to publish the highest quality Chinese-English bilingual books for children.  In addition to teaching children values of universal importance, the books aim to teach Chinese language, culture and history.  Children will learn to read Chinese and English simultaneously.  Studies have shown many benefits for children learning two languages at the same time.  By exposing children to dual language literature, they will be more prepared for the future global market place.
